Defragment Your Hard Drive

You may want to defragment your hard drive to reorganize the way the data is stored to optimize the space you do have. To start the defragmenter, close all unnecessary programs!

1. Click START then Programs

2. Select Accessories

3. Select System Tools

You'll find Disk Defragmenter in that folder. Click on it to start it and let it run. In Windows XP there is an Analyze button to test if your disk needs defragmenting. Or you can just click "Defragment" to start the process.

Just a note: this process can take a while. Especially if it is your first time doing this.

I first posted Microsoft's Article "Optimize your computer for peak performance"  in the Disk Cleanup Utility.  The article also includes the instructions for defragmenting your hard drive.

The video presentation below will demonstrate Defragmenting.

NOTE:  You will need to have Adobe Flash Player on your system.  A common free software download to view different training modules that call centers use for training and testing.  You gan get Adobe Flash Player here.
